| Obverse description | Cast bronze cash coin of standard Song Dynasty format, featuring a central square perforation surrounded by a raised square rim (inner rim). The four-character reign title legend 慶元通寶 (Qingyuan Tongbao) is disposed in cruciform arrangement around the central hole, reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left in regular script (kaishu): 慶 (top), 元 (right), 通 (bottom), 寶 (left). A raised circular outer rim borders the entire obverse field. The coin displays a heavy patina of green malachite encrustation with underlying bronze, consistent with long burial. |

A single Chinese character denoting the regnal year is present in one quadrant of the reverse field, partially visible beneath heavy green and blue-black patination. The reverse is otherwise unadorned, conforming to the standard two-cash issue format of the Southern Song Dynasty. Surface shows extensive malachite and azurite encrustation throughout. |
