| Obverse description | Round cast bronze coin with a central square perforation, displaying the four-character legend 大中通寶 (Da Zhong Tong Bao) arranged in regular script (kaishu) reading top-bottom-right-left around the square hole. The characters are boldly rendered in raised relief against a flat field, with no inner or outer rim decoration beyond a plain raised border. The coin exhibits an overall green patina consistent with age and burial, with areas of encrustation. The calligraphic style reflects the official foundry hand of the early Ming transitional period. |
