| Obverse description | Cast iron cash coin featuring a central square hole flanked by four Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu), arranged in a cruciform reading pattern. The inscription 淳熙元寶 (Chunxi Yuanbao) is disposed in the four cardinal fields: 淳 at top, 寶 at bottom, 熙 to the right, and 元 to the left. The characters are rendered in a bold, well-defined regular script style typical of Southern Song dynasty issues. The inner rim is slightly raised, framing the central perforation, with a broad, flat outer rim enclosing the legend field. |
