| Obverse description | Four Chinese ideograms in regular script (kaishu) arranged in the traditional clockwise reading order around a central square perforation, reading 淳熙元寶 (Chunxi Yuanbao). The characters are boldly cast in relief against a flat field, with the inscription occupying the four quadrants defined by the central hole. The legends are well-formed and clearly legible, exhibiting the balanced, upright strokes characteristic of Song dynasty regular script. A plain raised rim encircles the design. |
