Obverse description Royal cipher of King Christian V of Denmark, rendered as a crowned 'C5' monogram in the central field. The large cursive 'C' is surmounted by a decorative royal crown, with the numeral '5' interlaced within the curve of the letter. The design is contained within a beaded or rope inner border, typical of the crudely cast lead coinage produced for Danish colonial trade in India. The overall style is informal and characteristic of locally produced cast coinage of the late seventeenth century.
