Reverse description The reverse depicts the biblical scene of Christ standing upright to the left, extending his right hand downward to rescue the sinking St. Peter from the waters, a composition known as 'Domine, quo vadis' or the救 of Peter. Christ is shown in flowing robes with his arm outstretched in a gesture of salvation, while St. Peter kneels or rises from the turbulent water below. The scene is rendered with dramatic movement and spiritual symbolism, typical of Papal Renaissance coinage. The Latin legend QVARE DVBITASTI — 'Why did you doubt?' (Matthew 14:31) — encircles the design, serving as a devotional and theological inscription. The coin is bordered by a beaded rim consistent with the obverse.
