Issued to mark Thailand's designation of 1995 as the national Year of Information Technology, a government initiative promoting digital infrastructure at a moment when internet penetration across Southeast Asia was still below one percent. The push was partly driven by the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center, established in the late 1980s, which had been lobbying for exactly this kind of state-level commitment to technology policy.
Circulation strikes in this series tend to be found in quantity; the commemorative 2 Baht denomination was widely issued and heavily saved by the public.
