Additional information

Issued to mark the World Health Organization's campaign against drug abuse, this coin was part of a broader Thai commemorative program that saw multiple 2 Baht pieces tied to UN-affiliated causes throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. Thailand's participation was pointed — the country was then under significant international pressure regarding its position along the Golden Triangle, one of the world's most productive opium-producing regions.
