| Additional information |
New Swabia — Neuschwabenland — was the name Germany assigned to a Norwegian Antarctic territorial claim after a 1938–39 Luftwaffe aerial survey expedition dispatched by the Reichsluftfahrtministerium. No permanent settlement was ever established, and Germany formally renounced any Antarctic territorial ambitions under the 1959 Antarctic Treaty. "New Swabia" has no government, no population, and no monetary authority. This coin has no issuing sovereign behind it.
