| Obverse description | The obverse features the Portuguese national coat of arms — a shield displaying five escutcheons arranged in a cross, each bearing five bezants, surrounded by seven castles on a red bordure — rendered in fine relief at the centre of the field. The legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, flanked by decorative dots, while the denomination 2$50 is inscribed in large numerals along the lower portion of the field. The design was engraved by Marcelino Norte de Almeida in a clean, classical style consistent with Portuguese republican coinage of the period. |
