Obverse description Central device depicts the coat of arms of Angola, comprising a quartered shield set within a Portuguese armillary sphere. The shield displays the traditional Portuguese quinas in the dexter quarters alongside a bull passant and a rhinoceros in the sinister quarters, with wavy lines in base representing water. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown. The legend ANGOLA arcs along the upper field, flanked by small floral ornaments on either side, while the denomination 2$50 appears in the lower field with the escudo sign as a separator.

Reverse description Central device features the Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the Portuguese Republican coat of arms, a shield bearing the traditional quinas arranged in a cross pattern, set within the bands of the sphere. The armillary sphere, a symbol of Portugal's Age of Discovery, is rendered in precise relief with its characteristic meridian rings and equatorial band. The legend REPÚBLICA·PORTUGUESA curves along the upper periphery, and the date 1974, flanked by small rosette ornaments, appears in the lower exergual area. The field is plain, allowing the central device to dominate the composition.
