Obverse description Head of Persephone (or Kore) facing left, her flowing wavy hair richly elaborated and bound with a wreath of grain, rendered in the fine late Syracusan engraving tradition. The facial features display a gentle, idealised profile with delicately modelled cheekbones and lips. A beaded border encircles the design within the field.

Reverse description Nike standing facing left, clad in a long chiton with billowing drapery, crowning a military trophy with a wreath held aloft in her raised right hand; a palm branch extends behind her. The ethnic legend ΣΥΡΑΚΟΣΙΩΝ is arranged vertically in the left field. Two dolphins are visible in the right field, symbols characteristic of Syracusan coinage, and a horizontal ground line supports the trophy at lower centre.
