Obverse description Central field displays the crowned Swedish lion rampant set within a shield, surmounted by a royal crown. The royal cypher C·R·S (Carolus Rex Sueciae) is arranged around the crowned shield, with C to the upper left, R at the top centre, and S to the upper right. The date 1661 flanks the shield in two parts, with 16 to the left and 61 to the right. Small rosette ornaments are distributed symmetrically in the field around the central device. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous laurel or olive wreath border.
