Obverse description Violet and lilac letterpress-printed Gutschein on the base 5000 Mark note of Phoenix Aktien-Gesellschaft, Abteilung Hoerder Verein, dated Hoerde i. Westf., 20. Februar 1923, enclosed within an elaborate guilloche border with circular rosette medallions bearing the numeral '5000' at each corner. A green overstamp across the upper portion reads 'Gültig für den vierhundertfachen Betrag' and 'Zwei Millionen', revaluing the note to 2,000,000 Mark, with the green numeral '2' overprinted at left and right centre. The central band carries the original denomination 'Fünftausend Mark' in bold blackletter script on a dark underprint panel, below which the issuer's name, place, date, and two manuscript signatures appear.

Reverse description The reverse is unprinted, consisting of plain white paper stock with faint show-through of the obverse guilloche underprint visible under raking light, consistent with the lightweight paper used for this Notgeld issue.
