Additional information

Aigeai was a coastal city in Cilicia whose civic bronze issues of the late Hellenistic period reflect a community navigating the competing pressures of Seleucid decline and growing Roman influence in the eastern Mediterranean. SNG Levante 1685 is among the better-documented civic types from this mint, though Aigeai's bronze coinage as a whole remains understudied relative to its Cilician neighbors. The city would later achieve some prominence under Roman administration, eventually issuing coins well into the imperial period.
