Wallsee-Sindelburg is a small commune on the Danube in Lower Austria, and like hundreds of similar municipalities, it issued its own Notgeld during the severe coin shortage that followed Austria's defeat in the First World War. The 180 Heller denomination is notably high for a local emergency issue — most Austrian municipal Notgeld clustered around 10, 20, and 50 Heller — suggesting this value was introduced to handle transactions the smaller denominations couldn't efficiently cover by 1920.
J. Kielar of Amstetten was a regional printer serving several Lower Austrian communes in this period, not one of the major Viennese or German specialty houses.
