Additional information

Ephesos struck this bronze series during a period of acute dynastic instability across western Asia Minor, when the city passed between Lysimachus, Seleucid control, and ultimately the orbit of the early Ptolemaic sphere. The magistrate name Solon appearing on the issue places it within a civic coinage tradition where local officials held direct accountability for a mint run — a practice that makes die-linked series traceable in ways royal coinages rarely are.

SNG Copenhagen 269 remains the standard reference point for die comparison on this type.
