Obverse description Within a lozenge-shaped cartouche at the center of the field, the Napoleonic imperial eagle is depicted perched on a thunderbolt. The inscription ZARA appears to one side and the date 1813 to the other, flanking the central device. The design is applied by means of a hand stamp onto a host silver planchet, characteristic of emergency siege coinage. The overall composition is austere, reflecting the improvised nature of the issue.
