| Obverse description | The obverse displays the crowned arms of the Republic of Geneva at center, depicting a quartered shield with a displayed eagle on the dexter side and a key on the sinister side, surmounted by a radiant sun above the crown. The circular Latin legend RESPUBLIC·GENEVENSIS runs around the periphery, with toothed denticles bordering the rim. The design is rendered in a bold, slightly rustic baroque engraving style characteristic of Swiss cantonal coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
