| Obverse description | Diademed head of Zeus facing right, depicted with a mature, bearded visage and flowing hair rendered in bold, somewhat archaic relief characteristic of Cretan civic bronze coinage. The diadem is visible encircling the head, and the finely modelled beard and heavy brow lend the portrait a dignified, divine authority. The coin's irregular flan shows natural edge irregularities typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this period. |
