| Obverse description | A sphinx seated to the right occupies the central field, rendered in relief against a plain background. The mythological creature wears a kalathos (basket crown) upon its head, a distinctive attribute frequently associated with chthonic and protective deities in the Pamphylian artistic tradition. The wings are spread upward and the leonine body is compactly rendered in a static, heraldic posture characteristic of Hellenistic civic bronze coinage. The flan is slightly irregular, with natural casting porosity typical of the period. |
