| Reverse description | Central device features the Imperial arms of Brazil: a shield bearing an armillary sphere on a horizontally striped field, encircled by a band of nineteen five-pointed stars representing the provinces of the Empire. The escutcheon is surmounted by the Imperial Crown of Brazil, rendered with characteristic arched construction and foliate ornamentation. The shield is flanked by two symmetrical laurel branches tied at the base with a bow, forming a wreath open at the top. The surrounding legend IN.HOC.SIGNO.VINCES, the Constantinian motto, is inscribed in raised Latin characters along the periphery, with small ornamental star and floral stops between words. A finely dentilated milled border frames the entire design. |
