Obverse description Central field bears the interlaced royal cypher of Christian IV — the numeral '4' intertwined within a C-form monogram — surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The monogram is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend reads the denomination and date in Latin script, separated by pellets, running clockwise. The overall design is characteristic of the hammered coinage of the Danish royal mint in the early seventeenth century.
