| Obverse description | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Justinian I facing right, rendered in the late antique imperial portrait style typical of early Byzantine coinage. The emperor wears a diadem adorned with pendilia and a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, with visible cuirass detailing beneath. The portrait occupies the central field with the surrounding circular legend running along the coin's periphery. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hammered production, and the die work displays the characteristic bold but somewhat crude style of the Thessalonica mint. Surface shows typical green patination with areas of earthen deposits. |
