Additional information

Aioleion was a minor polis in the Troad, its civic coinage issued during a period when the region cycled through Macedonian, Antigonid, and Lysimachean control following Alexander's campaigns. That this small community maintained its own bronze issues at all speaks to the degree of municipal autonomy tolerated by successive Hellenistic overlords in western Asia Minor.
