China's gold Panda series abandoned its fixed-weight system in 2016, switching from troy ounce denominations to metric gram weights under a reform that standardized the lineup and quietly discontinued several intermediate sizes. The 100g piece occupies the top of the standard annual issue hierarchy, with mintages kept low enough that secondary-market premiums over spot have historically been substantial.
KM# 2445 is the 2018 iteration. The series changes its reverse design annually — a policy maintained without exception since 1983, making year-on-year accumulation a deliberate collector mechanism baked into the program's architecture from the outset.
