Additional information

Issued as part of Paraguay's extended run of foreign-figure commemorative gold pieces produced through the 1970s, this coin belongs to a series that had little to do with Paraguayan history and everything to do with hard currency generation under Alfredo Stroessner's government. The regime contracted extensively with foreign mints and distributors to produce collector-oriented gold issues aimed squarely at the international numismatic market — not domestic circulation.

Lincoln's inclusion reflects the series' broad, commercially driven roster rather than any particular diplomatic or historical connection to Paraguay.
