| Obverse description | The obverse is struck in the form of an irregular, lumpy electrum nugget in deliberate imitation of an ancient Lydian stater flan. At centre, within a recessed rectangular tablet, the legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD' appears in two lines above the date '2023' and the denomination '1500 FRANCS CFA', all in raised Latin lettering. To the right of the tablet, the national coat of arms of Chad is depicted in detail, featuring the supported shield, goat, and lion supporters on a base. The entire composition is finished in a rich gold plating, enhancing the archaic, hand-struck aesthetic of the design. |

| Reverse description | The reverse faithfully reproduces the celebrated design of the ancient Lydian electrum stater, presented on an irregular, flan-shaped planchet evoking the hand-struck coins of Lydia circa 600 BCE. A winged lion forepart is shown striding to the right in high relief, its mouth open and wings rendered in precise feather detail, confronting a bull forepart facing to the left. The two heraldic animals meet at centre in a dynamic composition that fills the entire field. The surface is finished in gold plating, replicating the warm electrum tone of the original ancient prototype. |
