The Colossus of Rhodes aside, ancient sources rank Phidias's chryselephantine Zeus at Olympia as the more awe-inspiring work — Strabo wrote that had the god stood up, he would have lifted the roof clean off the temple. The statue was lost entirely, probably destroyed by fire in Constantinople sometime in the 5th century AD, leaving no confirmed physical trace.

Ivory Coast issued a wave of small-denomination gold pieces in the mid-2000s targeting the collector market rather than circulation, this being one of several in that run referencing the Seven Wonders.
