| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a detailed representation of the Montgolfière hot air balloon of 1783, shown in high relief at the center of the field with its characteristic ornate envelope and basket. Flanking the balloon are portrait busts of the Montgolfier brothers, Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Étienne, the inventors of the balloon, positioned at left and right respectively. The legend MONTGOLFIÈRE 1783 arcs along the upper periphery, while the year of issue 2011 appears in the lower field. The composition commemorates the pioneering first manned flight achievement of 1783. |
