Additional information

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus — built in the 350s BC for the Anatolian satrap Mausollus by his wife and sister Artemisia II — gave the English language the word "mausoleum" and stood largely intact until medieval Knights Hospitaller dismantled it for fortification stone in the 15th century. Ivory Coast's connection to the subject is purely commercial: the country issued dozens of these small-format gold pieces in the mid-2000s targeting the thematic collector market, cycling through the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World as a series.
