Obverse description The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Togolese Republic at centre, comprising two addorsed lions rampant flanking a central cartouche bearing the initials 'RT', surmounted by two crossed national flags each inscribed with the motto words 'Travail' and 'Patrie', united by a scroll bearing 'Liberté'. The legend 'RÉPUBLIQUE TOGOLAISE' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '1500 FRANCS CFA' appears along the lower periphery. Additional information

Togo has no independent monetary authority — it issues the CFA franc through the BCEAO, the West African central bank, and has no sovereign mint. Coins bearing Togolese attribution in this format are produced under licensing arrangements, typically by the Bavarian State Mint or similar European facilities, for the collector market. They do not circulate. The geometry here is worth noting: 0.1418 g of gold pressed into a 40 mm disc is not a coin in any functional sense — it is a foil.
