| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the central field, depicting a shield supported by two leopards rampant, with a sailing ship in the upper quarter and a palm tree in the lower quarter. A scroll at the base of the arms bears the national motto 'FRATERNITE JUSTICE TRAVAIL'.
