| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Benin occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a castle tower and star in the upper quarters and a palm tree and sailing ship in the lower quarters, supported on either side by leopards rampant. A buffalo head with horns forms the crest above the shield. Below the arms, a scroll bears the national motto in three panels. The denomination '1500 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed in large characters beneath the scroll. The legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU BENIN' arcs along the upper periphery, with the date '2023' positioned below the crest. |
