Reverse description Central composition depicts the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, rendered as a colossal gilded male figure in a striding pose astride a harbor entrance, with mountainous scenery visible in the background. The figure is executed in selective gold gilding against the frosted silver field, creating a striking two-tone contrast. The upper circular legend reads MERVEILLES DU MONDE DE L'ANTIQUITE, while the lower legend COLOSSE DE RHODES is prominently displayed, with the date 2010 positioned in the mid-field. Decorative star ornaments punctuate the legends at regular intervals.

Additional information

The Colossus of Rhodes stood — by ancient accounts — for only 54 years before an earthquake toppled it around 226 BC, making it the shortest-lived of the Seven Wonders. The Ivory Coast entered the modern commemorative market aggressively in the late 2000s, issuing oversized silver pieces through the BCEAO framework that technically authorized CFA-denominated coins from member states, though pieces like this were produced entirely for the collector trade and never approached circulation.

The partial gilding on this issue targets the premium end of the thematic bullion market — a format Ivory Coast used repeatedly across its Seven Wonders series from this period.
