Additional information

The Allahabad High Court, established in 1866 under the High Courts Act of 1861, is one of the oldest high courts in India and has jurisdiction over Uttar Pradesh — the most populous state in the country. The 150-rupee denomination itself is the curiosity here: India has issued commemorative coins in unconventional face values tied directly to anniversary numbers, a practice the Reserve Bank leaned into heavily during the 2010s, producing a string of legally tender but entirely non-circulating pieces in denominations that exist nowhere else in the monetary system.
