Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, the national emblem of India, is depicted centrally in high relief, surmounting an abacus with the Dharma Chakra at its base. The national motto 'Satyameva Jayate' (Truth Alone Triumphs) is inscribed in Devanagari script beneath the emblem. The country name appears in Devanagari ('भारत') to the left and in Latin ('INDIA') to the right, arranged along the inner border of the field.
