Obverse description The State Emblem of the USSR — a hammer and sickle superimposed on a globe, encircled by wheat sheaves bound with a ribbon and surmounted by a five-pointed star — occupies the upper portion of the field. Below the emblem, the Cyrillic legend 'СССР' is inscribed in large letters across the mid-field, separating the polished upper field from the frosted lower section. The denomination '150' appears prominently in large numerals, with 'РУБЛЕЙ' (Roubles) below it, and the date '1989' at the bottom of the field. To the lower left, the fineness and weight inscription 'Pt 999 15,55' is incuse, while the Leningrad Mint monogram (ЛМД) appears to the lower right.

Reverse description The reverse features a richly detailed relief scene commemorating the Great Stand on the Ugra River of 1480, the event marking the end of Mongol-Tatar dominance over Russia. Two opposing groups of mounted and foot warriors are depicted in dynamic confrontation across the field: Russian forces armed with spears, banners, and bows on the right face Tatar cavalry retreating to the left, with stylized river waves rendered in the lower field. A radiant sun occupies the upper centre of the composition, evoking a medieval illuminated manuscript style. The curved legend '500-ЛЕТИЕ ЕДИНОГО РУССКОГО ГОСУДАРСТВА' (500th Anniversary of the Unified Russian State) arcs around the upper border, while 'СТОЯНИЕ НА УГРЕ · 1480 г.' (Standing on the Ugra · 1480) is inscribed along the lower border.
