| Obverse description | Central field bears the large crowned initial 'J' for King José I, surmounted by an elaborate royal crown rendered in fine relief. The denomination numeral '150' appears vertically to the left of the crowned monogram, while four quatrefoil ornaments flank the right side of the field. Two small cross-pattée stops accompany the monogram at its sides, and the date '1754' is inscribed horizontally in the lower portion of the field, enclosed between two pellets. The entire design is contained within a plain inner circle bordered by a prominent milled edge. |

| Reverse description | Central field displays an armillary sphere superimposed upon a Cross of the Order of Christ, the sphere rendered with meridian and equatorial bands in fine detail. The mintmark 'B' for the Bahia Mint appears in the field, identifying the place of manufacture. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading 'SVBQ. SIGN. NATA. STAB.', meaning 'Born under a steady sign', a reference to the Portuguese royal house. The design is enclosed within a plain inner circle, itself bounded by a continuous milled border. |
