| Reverse description | A large, boldly modeled effigy of Marshal José Félix Estigarribia is depicted facing slightly left, wearing his military dress uniform with epaulettes and a medal cross suspended at the collar. The portrait fills the central field with high relief, rendered in a realist style. The circular legend MARISCAL JOSÉ F. ESTIGARRIBIA runs along the periphery from lower left to lower right, and a beaded inner border frames the entire design. |

| Additional information |
Estigarribia commanded Paraguayan forces to victory in the Chaco War (1932–1935), one of the bloodiest conflicts in 20th-century South American history, fought against Bolivia over a largely waterless territory both countries believed held oil. He died in a plane crash in 1940, just months into his presidency, before his authoritarian constitution could be fully implemented. This coin was struck nearly three decades after his death, part of a broader Paraguayan commemorative program in the early 1970s that leveraged foreign silver striking contracts to generate hard currency.
