Additional information

Canada's lunar gold series draws on the Chinese-Canadian community's deep roots in the country — a population that helped build the Canadian Pacific Railway in the 1880s under brutal conditions, then faced the Chinese Immigration Act of 1923, which barred nearly all Chinese immigration for over two decades. The commemorative framing of these issues carries that weight whether or not the Royal Canadian Mint acknowledges it explicitly.

The .750 fineness is atypical for RCM gold issues, which more commonly use .9999 fine gold. The alloy choice here kept the retail price accessible while hitting a round denomination.
