Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a diademed crown adorned with maple leaf motifs and a pearl necklace, as sculpted by Dora de Pédery-Hunt. The portrait presents the Queen in a refined, mature rendering with detailed hair and regal bearing against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery and D•G•REGINA along the right, both in raised Latin lettering. The date 1997 appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait. The overall composition is characteristic of the Pédery-Hunt effigy used on Canadian collector coinage of this era.
