Additional information

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's Wildlife series, this issue coincided with Canada's aggressive push into the platinum bullion and commemorative markets during the late 1990s — a period when the Mint was actively competing with the Russian Norilsk-sourced Ballerina and the American Platinum Eagle, both launched within the preceding decade. The .9995 fineness specification was a deliberate one, matching or exceeding most international competitors at the time.
