Reverse description The reverse presents an intricate design by Canadian artists Chris and Rosina Reid, executed in the distinctive style of traditional Chinese paper cutting (jiǎnzhǐ). At the centre, a monkey—symbolic of curiosity, vitality, and the Chinese lunar year of 2016—is depicted holding a peach, the sacred fruit associated with longevity and immortality in Chinese culture. The monkey is positioned at the base of a peach tree bearing eight additional peaches and nine blossoms, the number nine being auspicious in Chinese tradition and associated with royalty and longevity. A Chinese character conveying the blessing of health (健康) appears above and to the right of the monkey. The outer band encloses the inscriptions 150 DOLLARS, 2016, CANADA, and the Chinese characters for Canada (加拿大), all set within the twelve-notched scalloped border of the coin.
