Obverse description The obverse bears the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, uncrowned and unadorned save for a necklace and earrings, as rendered by engraver Susan Taylor. The portrait depicts the Queen at approximately age 77, with fine facial detail characteristic of the mature effigy series. The legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA arcs around the upper field in Latin script. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional ornamental devices.
