Additional information

Issued to mark Bhumibol Adulyadej's fiftieth year on the throne — the longest reign of any monarch in Thai history at that point — this was one of several commemorative denominations released in 1996 as part of a coordinated national celebration. Bhumibol had ascended in 1946 following the death of his brother Ananda Mahidol under circumstances that were never officially resolved.
