| Reverse description | Central field depicts a giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) seated in three-quarter view, holding and gnawing a bamboo shoot with both forepaws, rendered in high relief with fine detail to the fur and foliage. The upper arc of the inner border bears the inscription 1/25oz Au.999 in Latin characters, denoting the gold content and fineness. The denomination 15元 is inscribed along the lower arc of the inner border. Two small rosette or mint marks flank the lower field. The design is set within a raised inner ring against a frosted relief background, in the Proof-like finish characteristic of Chinese Panda bullion issues. |
