Obverse description Baroque shield bearing the quartered arms of Grand Master Manuel Pinto de Fonseca, with the characteristic eight-pointed Maltese cross occupying the base quarter. The shield is surmounted by the princely crown of the Grand Master and flanked symmetrically by palm and olive branches in high relief. The mint date appears to the left of the crown within the field. A circular Latin legend naming the Grand Master runs along the periphery, punctuated by decorative stops.
