Obverse description A spread-winged eagle, displayed with head raised, stands atop two crossed keys — the traditional civic emblem of Geneva — enclosed within a wreath of oak and laurel branches. The date 1794 appears in the exergue below the central device. The circumferential legend POST TENEBRAS LUX, the motto of the Genevan Republic, arcs around the upper periphery in bold Roman capitals. The overall composition reflects the Neoclassical engraving style prevalent in late 18th-century Swiss coinage.
