Obverse description Pearl border encircles the entire field. A twisted rope circle frames the central denomination numeral '15' in large raised figures occupying the majority of the inner field. A small central hole pierces the coin. The circular legend 'STADTGEMEINDE' arcs across the upper periphery and 'MÜNCHEN' across the lower periphery, both between the pearl border and the rope circle. Dot separators flank the legend on either side.

Additional information

Issued in the final year of the First World War, this is Munich's contribution to the vast wave of German municipal emergency coinage — Kriegsgeld and its successor Notgeld — produced when the imperial government's requisitioning of copper and nickel for war industry stripped the country of its small-change supply. Zinc was the fallback material for dozens of cities and towns issuing their own stopgap pieces. The multiple Funck reference numbers reflect documented die varieties across the 1918 Munich issues, a detail worth cross-referencing against the specific piece in hand.
